Alternative New wave - Synthpop

Mikel Klav - Niterói (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Release of the digital EP Realeco on 6 january 2023

Mikel Klav is a Brazilian alternative Esperanto musician who lives in the city of Niterói in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He sings and plays keyboard. His style and influences originate from popular, pop rock, and classical electronic music. He started singing in Esperanto immediately after learning the language, in the beginning of the ninties, chiefly participating in the event ECO-92 where he sang in Esperanto for the first time. After that he took part in many Esperanto meetings. At the same time he composed the songs “Diferencoj” and “Senbrida mond’” in the years 1992 and 1995. They were not recorded but were at least written and preserved.

Later, in the years 2013-2016 he returned to performing and composing, and took part in the contest of the magazine Kontakto. At that time he recorded a demo-version of the songs “Brila stelo” and “Diferencoj”. His concerts occurred in various Esperanto events in Rio de Janeiro, most importantly in the 50th Brazilian Esperanto-Congress in the year 2015, and he was even invited to play in São Paulo in the 10th São Paulo Esperanto Congress in Ilha Bela in the year 2016, where he chiefly presented the song “Mia idolo Ĉarli Ĉaplin (Karleto estas...)”, which was the newest at that moment. The song was much liked by the audience because a big screen projected a Chaplin film which kept the audiance laughing during the song.

Lately he took part in the Konkurso Ĝianfranko 2022. He also composed the songs “Realeco” (album title), “Aerobus’”, and “Ŝanĝo de l’ sezonoj”.
These songs have now been compiled in his first EP Realeco that Mikel Klav created in 2022 and coproduced with Vinilkosmo for release in January 2023.
