Pop - Rock
The group was formed in 1994 with the separation of the band Flagrante Delito, that played in Portuguese. Merlin then began playing throughout the State of Minas Gerais in Brazil.
In 1998, the group began developing a parallel repertory, Merlin Esperante, playing songs already well known in Brazil, and their own songs in Esperanto. The effort to promote their cultural approach began to produce positive changes in the band. The French label Vinilikosmo (specializing in Esperanto) signed a contract with Merlin to produce the CD Por la mondo. The purpose of this first CD was to expose the issues of global concern, such as fraternity, equality, and love; and to awaken what is best in each of us on our journey through life.
In 2000 the Brazilian Esperanto League produced a second CD, Ho, mia kor', with a beautiful song taken from the classic poem of the initiator of Esperanto, Zamenhof. Another song, ‘Aferoj por gardi’, had the participation of Gouveira Bruno, lead singer of the famous Brazilian pop-rock band Biquine Cavadão.
Both CDs, with very professional music reflecting a diversity of rythyms, show the pleasant sound and intelligent simplicity of the International Language.
