For over a decade now, Martin Wiese has been surfing the Esperanto-Rock scene, first as guitarist, singer and leader of Persone, one of the pioneer groups of its kind, and back to us after an unbearable absence with a first solo album that will not fail to raise enthusiasm among his many fans.
Unlike some other initially Rock oriented groups, Martin has not tried to temper himself, aiming towards softer sounds, and even if the more acoustic SEN album by Persone (vkkd50) seemed to predict an evolution in that direction, big thrill addicts are not likely to be disappointed ! Teaming with the "moles" (la talpoj), Martin produces a melodious and sometimes even 'grungy' Rock sound from which his quite recognizable voice and lyrics emerge without the slightest decrease in tension.
Far from being confined within a unique discipline and unsatisfied with being a composer author and performer, Martin Wiese also demonstrates his talent as a graphic designer, offering us a self-portrait and reflection of his odd urban universe on the record pocket.
Also present on this CD, two videos, including one featured under our, now permanent, video link on vinilkosmo.com, and an almost eight minute long mp3, "Homoj Kiel semi" by DĴ Roĝer' to feed your media players.
For a record entitled "Better than nothing" (Pli ol nenio) we can boldly put forward this CD is really "something" to add to your collection and a model of the kind of realization we hope to see many more of in the near future !!
Thanks to Rogener Pavinski, producer for Brazilian video label Kosmuzik', for the second video on the CD, recorded live during Martins performance at KEF 2005 in Helsinki !
