Hip-hop - Electro

La Pafklik – Paris (93) France

La Pafklik (“Trigger”) was the first band to produce a hiphop album in Esperanto. This band started in 2006, and is made up of two Parisians, Platano and Katakana.

Originally, the idea was only to hold a series of concerts in Esperanto festivals, and international meetings. La Pafklik received warm reclame during these concerts: a dozen in France, Germany, Polland, and Slovakia.
Charmed by the originality of the project, the group even performed several times before non-Esperantist publics.

Things got serious with the release of their first disk. For this project, the band rapped in different styles, from G-funk gangster rap to traditional rap of the 90s; and the album even has a fusion title in the style of Rage Against the Machine.
As for the texts (for those who have the courage to learn the easiest language in the world), they are politically engaged and also full of humor and irony, for example Fek al Esperanto (Shit on Esperanto). Many subjects are brought up in the album: pollution, the uniformization of cultures, power, police violence, but also those evenings incensed with Mary Jane and the delirium of these fake Esperanto gangsters….

The album “Fek al Esperanto” came out in 2009. Since then, La Pafklik has been actively participating in the release of a net-tape, for free downloading, entitled Hiphopa Kompilo Vol. 1, which will bring a dozen Esperanto rappers from seven different countries together.
