Choir a capella
Akordo - Netherlands
Akordo is a group singing a capella in Esperanto. They come from the Netherlands, and were active between 1988 and 2008. During this period, the members of the group changed several times, but their goal was always to have two singers in each part. The members who stayed longest were Rineke Hoens (soprano), Saskia Idzerda (soprano/alto), Ineke Bourguignon-Slis (soprano), Marwine van der Molen (alto), Jeroen Balkenende (tenor), Sander van Huijzen (tenor) ), Danny ten Haaf (bass), and Arjen-Sjoerd de Vries (bass).
The Akordo repertoire consists of songs of different styles: from medieval to modern, from folk songs to rock music. Almost all the songs have been translated into Esperanto, or have given an Esperanto version. The majority of translations are from Roel Haveman.
The group regularly appeared in Dutch or international Esperanto meetings, for example during the World Congresses in Prague (1996), Vilnius (2005), and Rotterdam (their farewell concert in 2008).
Akordo produced two CDs: Muzikpluvo (1996), and Kristnaska kordo (2003). It has also contributed to a few other musical productions; its version of the Esperanto song "La Espero" has become especially popular.
In April 2018, Vinilkosmo launched the digital release of the group's first album, Muzikpluvo, with two additional tracks.
